If you’re looking for a good matchup in terms of the potential of hitting a home run, here are three players who look like promising alternatives to go yard in Tuesday’s fantasy baseball slate.
Why You Should Target Matt Chapman as a Home Run Hitter on Tuesday
Matt Chapman and the San Francisco Giants have been struggling offensively, but this matchup against the Padres might be the game where everything clicks on offense for the Bay Area franchise. One of the players who could be in line to deliver a solid matchup should be Chapman, who’s hitting .400 with a 1.504 OPS and 3 home runs against German Marquez across 15 at-bats.
The days of Marquez being a fantasy-relevant option are long gone, and the Giants should take full advantage of his struggles to get things back on track offensively. Chapman is not the only Giants hitter who sees the ball well against Marquez, though, with Harrison Bader (.900 OPS in 12 at-bats) and Willy Adames (1.566 OPS, 3 homers in 11 at-bats) also being reliable alternatives to go yard.
Why Jesus Sanchez Is a Top DFS Home Run Option
Jesus Sanchez already knows what it feels like to go deep with the Blue Jays since he belted his first home run of the campaign in Sunday’s win over the Athletics, but Tuesday’s matchup against the Rockies, and more precisely against Ryan Feltner, is a good choice to do so as well. That’s because Sanchez is a career .364 hitter with a 1.273 OPS and 2 home runs in only 11 at-bats against Feltner, who will take the ball for a struggling Rockies team.
Sanchez might not be known for his power, as he’s yet to hit more than 20 homers in any of his previous 5 seasons in the majors, but he should take advantage of a favorable matchup to go yard here. For what it’s worth, the Dominican Republic native is seeing the ball extremely well and has hits in his first 3 games this season, going 4-for-9 with 1 homer, 3 RBI, 4 runs scored, 2 walks, and 0 strikeouts in 12 plate appearances.
Back Ian Happ as a Home Run Option on Tuesday
It’s hard to find a hitter who’s swinging a hotter bat than Ian Happ right now. The Cubs outfielder, who’s playing in the final year of his contract before being a free agent next winter, has gone yard in each of the Cubs’ last 3 games, and it’s safe to say he’s bounced back after going 1-for-5 with 3 strikeouts on Opening Day.
Happ is clearly seeing the ball well and hitting it extremely hard, and he’s thriving as the Cubs’ No. 3 hitter, slotted right between Alex Bregman and Pete Crow-Armstrong in what should be one of the most prolific offenses in the National League.
Hitting homers in 4 games in a row is complicated, but given the way Happ is seeing the ball of late, it would be wrong not to trust him. Through 4 games, the slugging outfielder owns a 1.081 OPS with an impressive, and unsustainable, .765 slugging percentage since 3 of his 4 hits have gone into the stands.
