Wednesday features a 15-game slate in the majors with several games starting early. If you need some last-minute fantasy baseball advice, we have you covered with lineups to stack, hitters to watch, pitchers to consider, and a pitcher to fade as well, despite a dominant showing on Opening Day.
Stacking the Braves Lineup Against Luis Severino
Several Braves hitters have found success against Luis Severino, and it’s not as if the veteran looked dominant in his season debut against the Blue Jays on March 27. Michael Harris II has hit .500 with a 1.500 OPS in eight at-bats against the Dominican. Matt Olson (.455, 1.193 OPS in 11 at-bats) and Austin Riley (.375, .875 OPS in eight at-bats) have also had success against Severino in the past.
Severino is looking to bounce back from a 2025 season in which he went 8-11 with a 4.54 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 124:49 K:BB across 162.2 innings and 29 starts. However, that won’t be the case on Wednesday, as the Braves’ hitters should inflict damage on him early and often.
Why the Phillies Are a Strong DFS Stack Against Cade Cavalli
Cavalli allowed three runs (two earned) in 3.2 innings against the Cubs and didn’t factor into the decision, although he did strike out five. Things won’t get easier for him with a road matchup against the Phillies. Even if the Phillies are hitting under .200 as a team to open the season, they’re a dangerous team that could wake up in any given game.
The Phillies’ lineup features Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, and Trea Turner, who are pretty much selected in every league and DFS contest you can think of. However, the strength of the matchup against Cavalli, who didn’t look his best against the Cubs in his 2026 debut, suggests other players such as Alec Bohm, J.T. Realmuto, and Adolis Garcia could be options worth considering.
Why Alex Bregman is a Top Hitter for Wednesday’s DFS Slate
Bregman had a costly misplay in Tuesday’s 2-0 loss against the Angels, as he couldn’t make a routine play at third that ended up scoring the lone two runs of the game. The veteran third baseman didn’t look his best at the plate either, going 0-for-4, and he’s 1-for-8 in the series.
However, Bregman has done a good job against Kikuchi throughout his career, hitting .350 with a 1.336 OPS and 2 HR in 20 at-bats, and 3-for-13 with two homers in the series against the Nationals, so the power is clearly there. Bregman’s numbers aren’t eye-catching by any means, but he’s an above-average hitter who will be looking to bounce back after a bad game Tuesday. He should do just that with a pitching matchup that favors him as well.
Targeting Nick Pivetta in Wednesday’s DFS Slate
Nick Pivetta didn’t have his best performance on Opening Day, allowing six runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out four batters over three innings. However, he should be in line for a more favorable matchup this time around against a Giants lineup that has struggled massively throughout the season.
Even though San Francisco scored nine runs on Tuesday, Pivetta is simply too good a pitcher to struggle as much as he did on Opening Day for a second consecutive start. Plus, the Giants are hitting .215 with a .594 OPS as a team so far. Pivetta will have the edge of pitching in a pitcher-friendly environment as well, so don’t be afraid to start him.
Why Jacob Misiorowski is a Fade Option for Wednesday DFS
Misiorowski experienced an uptick in ownership in most leagues after an impressive performance on Opening Day, where he tossed five innings of one-run ball against the White Sox, allowing two hits and issuing three walks, but also striking out 9. The White Sox are one of the most strikeout-happy lineups in the majors, so it’s hard to see Misiorowski repeating this same output against the Rays.
Even though he’ll be pitching in a pitchers’ venue once again, it’s just too hard to see Misiorowski delivering the same kind of output as he did on Opening Day since he’ll be facing a much-improved lineup. The Tampa Bay lineup is hitting an MLB-best .293 entering Wednesday’s slate, and they also rank sixth in OPS (.768).
