If you’re unsure of who to target as a potential home-run hitter for Wednesday’s fantasy baseball slate, here are four recommendations you should follow.
Why You Should Target Shea Langeliers for Wednesday’s Slate
Langeliers has a tough matchup, as the Athletics will face Chris Sale and the Braves. However, few hitters in the majors have seen the ball as well as Langeliers in the early stages of the season.
He’s hitting .350 with a 1.331 OPS and four home runs in 20 at-bats. Dealing with the offerings of Sale is tough for any hitter, and while Langeliers hit .367 against southpaws in 2025, he has had success against lefties recently. The matchup is difficult, but there’s potential here.
Andrew McCutchen Could Be a Sleeper Home Run Hitter
McCutchen is essentially a part-time player at this point in his career, but he has a favorable matchup here against Trevor Rogers (he has hit well against him in the past). Plus, McCutchen is certainly making his presence felt in the Rangers’ lineup since he’s hit safely in each of his four games so far in 2026, going 5-for-11 with a homer, four RBI, two doubles, and two runs scored.
With a favorable matchup on paper and excellent early-season stats, McCutchen might not be a popular pick to go yard on most games, but he’s certainly a sleeper candidate on Wednesday.
Trust Javier Baez to Go Yard Against the Diamondbacks
Even though Baez might not be the dominant hitter he was during the prime of his career with the Cubs, he’s still a player with enough power to launch a rocket pretty much every time he steps up to the plate. “El Mago” also has excellent numbers against Zac Gallen in his career, hitting well against him in past matchups.
If we add the fact that Gallen got off to a rocky start this season, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two batters over four innings against the Dodgers, then Baez could have some value as another sleeper option to go yard Wednesday.
Expect Shohei Ohtani to Snap His Home Run Drought
Ohtani has yet to go yard this season, and after setting a new career-high mark in long balls in 2025, he simply seems due to hit a homer sooner rather than later. He’s coming off a dominant pitching performance on Tuesday, tossing six scoreless frames in the Dodgers’ win over the Guardians, but he also went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks as a batter.
Ohtani has gone 3-for-15 so far and is yet to record an extra-base hit, so he simply looks due to have a big hitting performance sooner rather than later. Considering the Guardians will have Gavin Williams on the mound, this is an excellent chance for Ohtani to snap his HR drought.
