Freddie Freeman’s Age Concerns Drop Him to Tier 3 in 2026 Fantasy Rankings

Freddie Freeman essentially mirrored his strong 2024 campaign with another highly productive season in 2025, continuing one of the steadiest offensive runs in baseball. Even at this stage of his career, he remains a reliable five-category contributor at first base, though his stolen base impact has faded due to age and the lingering right ankle concerns that surfaced in 2024.

The overall offensive profile, however, continues to provide strong value for Fantasy Baseball Points League managers.

Freeman’s consistency remains remarkable. He has now produced 20 or more home runs in each of the last nine full seasons while also driving in at least 70 runs and scoring at least 80 runs in each of those years. His batting average stability is even more impressive, as he has not hit below .275 since 2012 and has cleared the .295 mark in nine of the past 10 seasons.

The quality of contact also remained intact in 2025, with a 114.1 mph max exit velocity, 10.4% barrel rate, and 45.7% hard-hit rate, all of which were either up from 2024 or fully in line with his established career norms.

What to Expect from Freddie Freeman in 2026 Fantasy Baseball

Freeman’s strengths continue to center on elite bat-to-ball skills, consistent hard contact, and a premium lineup role with the Los Angeles Dodgers. His approach remains polished, allowing him to generate steady run production and maintain one of the safest offensive floors at the position. In Points League formats, that reliability paired with strong on-base ability keeps him firmly in the upper tier of first basemen.

The primary concern is subtle skill erosion tied to age. His 13.4% Swinging Strike Rate (SwStr%) and 20.4% Strikeout Rate (K%) both ticked higher than usual, suggesting he may be trading a bit of contact for bat speed.

While the decline is not yet severe, it is the clearest indicator that long-term regression could eventually arrive. Additionally, the steals category is no longer a meaningful part of his profile.

Looking ahead to 2026, Freeman still projects as a high-end run producer capable of delivering another strong season if health cooperates. Expect continued stability in batting average and counting stats, with moderate power that remains well above positional average. The ceiling is no longer peak-MVP level, but the floor remains extremely valuable for Points League construction.

As far as first base hierarchy for Fantasy Baseball Points Leagues, I rank him at Tier 3 under Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Nick Kurtz, and Pete Alonso, among others, and higher than Rafael Devers, Josh Naylor, and Ben Rice.
