Alec Bohm’s 2024 fantasy value was closely tied to his role in the heart of the Phillies’ lineup. Spending most of the season batting cleanup, he drove in 97 runs for the second consecutive year, masking an otherwise modest power profile. In 2025, however, his situation changed significantly.
Bohm moved throughout the batting order, hitting as low as eighth 23 times, and missed time due to left rib and left shoulder injuries. The result was a drop to just 59 RBIs and a season that fell short of fantasy expectations.
Despite the decline in counting stats, Bohm’s core offensive skills remained largely intact. He continued to make steady contact, posting a 16.3% strikeout rate (K%), his fourth straight season under 18%. He also maintained above-average hard-hit rates.
The issue lies in launch angle and power output. Bohm struggles to elevate the ball consistently, which limited him to 11 home runs last season and a career high of just 20 in 2023. While his frequent hard contact on the ground supports a reliable batting average that has not dipped below .274 since 2021, the lack of over-the-fence power at a corner infield spot lowers his fantasy ceiling.
Alec Bohm’s Strengths, Weaknesses, and 2026 Fantasy Baseball Projection
From a fantasy baseball points leagues perspective, Bohm’s strengths center on contact stability and batting average consistency. His low strikeout rate (K%) and steady approach give him a relatively safe weekly floor, particularly in formats that reward consistent ball-in-play production. If he secures regular cleanup duties again, the run production could rebound meaningfully, restoring much of his previous value.
The weaknesses are equally clear. Limited power for a third baseman restricts his upside, especially in points formats that reward extra-base hits.
Additionally, defensive concerns at a corner position create some long-term role risk, particularly with prospect Aidan Miller progressing through the system. If Bohm does not produce enough impact with the bat, his at-bats could eventually come under pressure.
There is at least some optimism entering 2026. Phillies manager Rob Thomson has mentioned Bohm, Adolis García, and J.T. Realmuto as candidates for the cleanup role, and early indications suggest Bohm may have the inside track this spring. If he holds that spot and stays healthy, a rebound toward 75 to 85 RBIs with a batting average in the .275 to .285 range and 10 to 15 home runs is a reasonable projection.
As far as third base hierarchy for fantasy baseball points leagues, I rank him at Tier 7 under Jose Ramirez, Junior Caminero, and Jazz Chisholm Jr., among others, and higher than Matt Shaw, Mark Vientos, and Carlos Correa.
