George Springer has shown he can stay healthy in recent years, and the 2025 season marked the third consecutive campaign in which he played at least 130 games in the regular season. It also proved to be one of Springer’s best seasons to date, which says a lot for a player who has been extremely consistent throughout his 12-year career in the majors.
Springer hit a career-best .309 across 586 plate appearances during the 2025 regular season, with a .399 on-base percentage (which was another career-high output), a .560 slugging percentage, and a .959 OPS. That was the second-best OPS of his career, trailing only the .974 mark he posted in 2019. But is that a sign of things to come for the future, or was 2025 just a one-year wonder for the veteran outfielder?
George Springer Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Strengths, Weaknesses, and 2026 Projections
Springer not only clubbed 32 home runs in 2025 (his best mark since 2019) but also stole 18 bases, making it the fourth consecutive campaign in which he recorded at least 19 homers and 14 steals. He’s not exactly a burner on the basepaths, however, so it’s hard to see Springer approach 20 steals again in his age-36 season. The power numbers look repeatable, and the increased usage at designated hitter will allow him to have even more energy as a hitter.
It would be wise to believe there’s going to be some regression, as Springer is approaching the wrong side of his 30s, and it’s impossible to escape the decline.
That said, he’s going to be the Blue Jays’ designated hitter most of the time, so as long as he continues to have outfield eligibility, that will work in his favor. The fact that the Blue Jays have one of the most potent lineups in the American League should also boost Springer’s run-producing numbers, as he’s going to have a top-of-the-order role.
All things considered, feel confident to draft Springer if you see him available around the seventh or eighth round; anything below that threshold and below an ADP of around 85 would be excellent value.
He has some concerns related to his age, as well as the fact that his 2025 season seemingly came out of nowhere, but his hitting ability has always been there. As long as you don’t reach to draft him, Springer could be a strong addition to your outfield ranks, even if he regresses a bit compared to his 2025 numbers.
