MLB Recap: Cal Raleigh’s Walk Off, Cody Ponce’s Injury Highlight Monday’s 15-Game Slate on March 30

Monday was full of action in the majors as all 30 teams took the field. Here are some of the biggest takeaways from this 15-game slate on March 30, including some of the best players who turned heads in fantasy baseball.

Cody Ponce Carted Off in Blue Jays’ Loss to Rockies

Ponce made his first appearance in the big leagues since the 2021 season after spending several years in Japan and South Korea, but it’s safe to say this performance was far from what he could’ve imagined.

The veteran hurler was carted off the field in the third inning after trying to field a grounder from Jake McCarthy, but he bobbled the play, and when trying to move to grab the ball again, he pulled up in pain and grabbed the back of his right leg. The Blue Jays announced that Ponce was dealing with “right knee discomfort,” and an MRI will be needed to determine whether the veteran will have to miss some time.

This is far from what the Blue Jays would’ve hoped for, as they’re already dealing with several injuries to their rotation, and Ponce must be disappointed as well. He had a fantastic 2025 season in the KBO, posting a 1.89 ERA with 252 strikeouts over 180.2 innings, which earned him a three-year, $30 million deal with the Blue Jays.

Cal Raleigh Steps Up for Mariners, Delivering Walk-Off Win Over Yankees

Raleigh endured a tough start to the 2026 season and went 2-for-15 with one double, three walks, and 10 strikeouts across his first 18 plate appearances this season, so he wasn’t in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Yankees.

However, the “Big Dumper” found a way to make his presence felt as a pinch hitter and ultimately delivered the game-winning hit with a one-out single down the line that went past Ben Rice at first base. This could be all the momentum Raleigh needs to turn things around.

One weekend isn’t enough to draw conclusions, especially in baseball’s 162-game regular season, but Raleigh had been one of the most disappointing players in fantasy during the first taste of action, especially as he was a first-round pick in most formats after a 2025 campaign in which he hit 60 home runs.

Standout Fantasy Baseball Performers on March 30

Luis Castillo blanked the Yankees and reached 1,500 strikeouts in his career. Edward Cabrera looked dominant in his Cubs debut in a win over the Angels after tossing six scoreless innings with five strikeouts.

The best performer, however, was Jose Altuve, who had a four-hit performance, including two home runs, for the Astros in an 8-1 win over the Red Sox. Corbin Carroll (two hits, home run, four RBI, two runs scored) also stood out in the Diamondbacks’ win over the Tigers.
