If you’re looking for fantasy baseball advice ahead of Wednesday’s slate, here’s everything you need to know. We have one lineup to stack and one to avoid, as well as recommendations for hitters and pitchers ahead of a fully loaded MLB schedule on Wednesday, April 8.
Why You Should Stack the Detroit Tigers Against the Twins
The Tigers have an extremely favorable matchup on Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins, who have posted a collective ERA of 3.94 despite having Taj Bradley (2-0, 1.08 ERA, 1.08 WHIP) anchoring the rotation. The Tigers are one of many offenses in the American League that have yet to fully wake up, but this could be a perfect chance to do so. The Tigers have several players who have had past success against Bailey Ober, who owns a 6.75 ERA through two starts this season.
We have Zach McKinstry, who has hit .389 with a 1.111 OPS in 18 at-bats against Ober. Kerry Carpenter has hit .267 with an .886 OPS in 17 plate appearances. Matt Vierling has hit .400 with a .911 OPS in 20 plate appearances. Riley Greene has hit .333 with a 1.122 OPS and two homers across 20 plate appearances off Ober. Those numbers are enough to stack the Tigers confidently on Wednesday.
Why You Shouldn’t Stack the Dodgers Against Dylan Cease
On paper, the Dodgers are a team you should often stack in fantasy baseball. However, this particular matchup against Dylan Cease isn’t really favorable for Los Angeles. Cease has limited Dodgers hitters to a .211/.317/.328 slash line throughout his career, and several Dodgers hitters have had problems against him.
Will Smith has hit .167 off Cease in 16 plate appearances, while Teoscar Hernandez (.167 with a .325 OPS) and Max Muncy (.200, .633 OPS) have also had lots of issues against the star hurler. Shohei Ohtani has had good results against Cease, though, posting a 1.189 OPS across 26 plate appearances. But overall, you could find better options to stack an offense than the Dodgers just because of their everyday names in the lineup.
Mauricio Dubon Is an Under-the-Radar Hitter to Watch
There will be plenty of elite hitters to choose from when you assemble your lineup for Wednesday’s DFS slates. However, if you’re looking to find an under-the-radar addition to your lineups, look no further than Mauricio Dubon.
He has a favorable matchup against Reid Detmers, who should come down to earth at some point after a strong start to the season, and the numbers don’t lie here. Over 12 plate appearances against Detmers, Dubon has hit 6-for-11 with a home run, two RBIs, and just one strikeout, which translates to a .545 average and a 1.402 OPS. He’s someone to keep close tabs on.
Aaron Nola and Dylan Cease Are Pitchers to Target
There’s a high chance that both Nola and Cease will be owned if you’re playing a season-long fantasy league, and if that’s the case, you should consider one of our streaming options instead. But if you’re planning to participate in a DFS contest on Wednesday, then Nola and Cease are two outstanding options to anchor your lineup.
Nola has limited Giants hitters to a .191 average and .543 OPS throughout his career. His numbers against current San Francisco hitters are even more impressive, with a 30.8% strikeout rate, a .183 batting average against, and a .235 xwOBA. As for Cease, he has limited Dodgers hitters to a .211 average and .645 OPS across 129 plate appearances while posting a 41:17 K:BB and giving up just two home runs.
Why You Should Fade Luis Severino on Wednesday
Severino’s games against the Yankees will always be special, considering he spent several years donning the pinstriped uniform in the Bronx. However, the Dominican hasn’t had good results against his former team throughout his career, and that doesn’t figure to change this Wednesday since the Yankees have been one of the most dangerous offenses in the majors after the first two weeks of the regular season.
Severino has allowed Yankees hitters to post a .290 average, .384 on-base percentage, and 1.052 OPS throughout his career, while also allowing 10 extra-base hits (including six homers) and posting a 14:7 K:BB in 69 plate appearances. Those are far from encouraging numbers, and given the way the Yankees have been obliterating opposing pitchers so far in 2026, you could find better options on the mound than Severino on Wednesday’s loaded slate.
