If you need late advice regarding potential streaming options on the pitching side of things in Tuesday’s fantasy baseball slate, here are three players you could consider streaming, regardless of whether you’re playing in season-long formats or DFS contests.
Why Shane McClanahan is a Must-Stream vs. the White Sox
McClanahan has made just 2 starts this season, and the results have been far from eye-popping, as he’s given up 5 runs (4 earned) while posting a 9:7 K:BB across 8.2 innings. However, it’s worth noting those starts were against potential playoff-contending teams in the National League, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Cubs, so in a way, the struggles were expected.
That’s not expected to be the case on Tuesday, however, as McClanahan will have an extremely favorable matchup against the lowly Chicago White Sox. Chicago has the worst collective OPS in the majors by a wide margin, as its .584 mark is .039 points lower than the 29th-ranked team, the Cincinnati Reds.
McClanahan is rostered in less than 30% of leagues, so with his favorable matchup, he should be a popular streaming alternative, and rightfully so.
Why Joey Cantillo is a Good Stream Against the Cardinals
Cantillo has been improving with each passing start. He lasted just 3.2 innings in a no-decision on the road against the Seattle Mariners, but he tossed at least 5 frames in his next 2 starts, going 5.1 innings in a no-decision against the Chicago Cubs and 5.2 innings in a win over the Kansas City Royals.
That last outing against the Royals was particularly encouraging, as Cantillo struck out a season-high 9 and recorded 32 swinging strikes out of his 88 pitches. Even though the Cardinals have overachieved a bit to start the season, this is a swing-happy lineup that should struggle against Cantillo, making the Guardians’ southpaw an attractive streaming option in Tuesday’s slate.
Ryan Weathers is a Strong Streaming Option Against the Angels
Weathers’ numbers against the Angels’ hitters haven’t exactly been dominant, as he’s allowed a batting average of .267 and a .358 xwOBA in a limited sample size (17 PAs), but that shouldn’t stop you from streaming him in what figures to be a favorable matchup on paper.
The Angels rank 26th in the majors in collective batting average ahead of Tuesday’s slate, and while they scored 10 runs in Monday’s series opener, they also rank as a middle-of-the-pack offense since they’re 15th in the majors in collective OPS with a .695 mark.
Weathers tossed 8 innings and allowed 1 run against the Athletics the last time he pitched at Yankee Stadium, and with a decent 3.09 ERA in 2 starts at home, Weathers has enough quality to be a worthy streaming option in an ace-heavy slate on Tuesday.
