The star slugger is slumping to start the season since he’s hit just .190 with a .581 OPS across the first 15 games, but he’s had excellent results against Ryne Nelson, posting a .455 average and a 2.000 OPS with 4 homers in 11 at-bats against him.
Plus, Alonso’s hard-hit rate of 56.4% ranks 11th in the majors, so the power numbers should begin to pick up sooner rather than later. As if that wasn’t enough, Nelson has a poor history against the Baltimore Orioles, allowing the current Baltimore hitters a .285 xwOBA in 32 plate appearances. This is a great matchup for Alonso.

The right-hander has 21 plate appearances of experience against the current Miami Marlins lineup, but the results have been encouraging since he’s struck out 42.9% of those batters while limiting them to a .167 average and an impressive .280 xwOBA.
The Marlins have looked better than expected to open the season, but this is a team that will be carried by their pitching, not their offense. If you have the opportunity to stream Holmes, regardless of whether you’re in a season-long format or a DFS contest, jump on it. Several Texas hitters have had success in the past against Severino, such as Jake Burger (.313, 1.234 OPS, 2 homers in 16 at-bats), Brandon Nimmo (.500, 1.615 OPS, 1 homer in 10 at-bats), and Joc Pederson (.375, 1.125 OPS, 1 homer in 8 at-bats), just to name a few.
There are better options for you to stream than Severino, who has pitched to the tune of a 5.40 ERA across 13.1 innings this season. As if those results weren’t enough, Severino has allowed current Rangers hitters to post a .320 average, a .555 xSLG, and a .404 xwOBA in 85 plate appearances, so he’s poised to struggle once again, especially with this game being played at Sutter Health Park.
